Compound Interest Calculator

See how a starting balance and a monthly amount grow, and how much of that is interest.

How it works

  1. Enter your starting balance and what you add each month, in AUD.
  2. Enter the yearly interest rate and the number of years.
  3. Press Calculate.
  4. See the ending balance, how much is interest, and the balance year by year.

Good to know

  • Interest is added every month. Your monthly amount goes in at the end of each month.
  • Example: $10,000 to start, $200 a month, 7% a year for 10 years ends at about $54,714. About $20,714 of that is interest.
  • The rate can be 0 to 100 percent. The time can be up to 80 years.

Informational projection only. Excludes taxes, inflation adjustments, and variable rate fluctuations.

Questions

Does the monthly amount go in at the start or the end of the month?
At the end. Each deposit starts earning interest from the next month.
